During the 2008 financial collapse, Professors Russ Muirhead (Government), Doug Irwin (Economics), and Meir Kohn (Economics) [pictured] began a debate over the causes and consequences of the crisis. While disagreeing about many things, they agreed on the need of their respective disciplines to address more effectively the fundamental questions bearing upon our political economy. The founding of the Political Economy Project was designed to address this need. Since its inception, students and faculty from other departments and disciplines—including history, philosophy, sociology and many others—have contributed to the PEP in countless ways.
