In 2016, Americans were stunned by evidence of Russian attempts to interfere in our presidential election. But they shouldn’t have been. Outside subversion has a long history, and in his new book (co-authored with Jill Kastner), the Daniel Webster Professor of Government offers a broad survey of the topic, so that democratic polities may be better prepared for it in the future.
